Polar Tint Parker North Urges Front Range Drivers to Prep Their Paint Before De-Icer Season

Ceramic coating, coated wheels and paint protection film help vehicles handle magnesium chloride residue and I-25 grit

PARKER, Colo. — October 14, 2026 — As Front Range snow season approaches, Polar Tint Parker North is encouraging drivers in Parker, Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch and the southeast Denver metro to protect their paint before road crews start treating highways.

The Colorado Department of Transportation treats state highways with liquid and solid de-icers, including magnesium chloride, and applies an anti-icing brine hours before a storm. CDOT adds a corrosion inhibitor to its products to minimize the impact on vehicles, but residue from treated roads still ends up on paint and wheels, and because magnesium chloride draws moisture from the air, it can stay damp on a vehicle after the road dries.

The first recommendation is ceramic coating. The cured coating adds a chemical-resistant, hydrophobic layer over the factory clear coat, so water and the brine it carries bead and sheet off. The shop installs coating in two tiers and cures every job in a climate-controlled bay, which matters as Parker temperatures drop. Because brine collects on wheel faces, wheel wells and lower rockers, it also offers coating for wheels and wheel barrels. On used vehicles and lease returns, paint correction comes first.

For drivers logging winter miles on I-25 or ski trips on I-70, the shop pairs coating with paint protection film. Full Front PPF covers the hood, fenders, mirrors, bumper and A-pillars. The film handles rock chips no coating can stop, and the coating handles the chemistry everywhere else.

The shop's winter routine for coated vehicles:

  • Hand-wash regularly with pH-neutral soap.
  • Rinse soon after driving on treated roads; touchless washes are fine in between.
  • Skip brush automatic washes, which can trap de-icer grit against the finish.
  • Come in for a spring check-up.

Every coating or PPF job is quoted in person. An installer inspects the paint with the owner, recommends a tier and any correction or PPF work, and provides a written quote with scope, install date and warranty terms. The coating and the PPF each carry a manufacturer warranty, and all work is locally quoted.
